The War Begins

After the terror of the Terminus Plague the nation held its breath and prayed that Carnal was through with them. But this was not to be the case. In the spring after the release of the plague Carnal struck again.

Carnal launches his first direct attacks on the United States simultaneously on Washington DC and New York City. Wave after wave of armored drones poured out of shimmering portals that appeared throughout both cities. The attacks were so sudden and so thoroughly planed that there was no warning whatsoever for the attacked cities. The initial attacks are so surprising that there was no time to mount any sort of coordinated defense. The defenses of the region, both mundane and superhuman, simply weren’t suited to work against the massive blitzkrieg-style attack that Carnal had launched.

The drone army that Carnal employed seemed to be endless as more and more poured through the portals. The drones were fearless in battle and nearly unstoppable in their silent rage. Carnal himself appeared at the forefront of his legions wearing a set of crimson and black armor that seemed to accentuate his already great powers.

The sheer destruction brought on by the attacks was enormous and in many places catastrophic. Important monuments and other tourist heavy areas are early targets for Carnals drones. These areas become blood soaked battle-zones as defenders and innocents are slaughtered.

The brutality of the attacks was incomprehensible. During the attacks over five million people are killed in the two target cities with at least another two million presumed dead or missing. In addition hundreds of superhumans died or simply disappeared during the attacks. There was no reasoning with the drones and no mercy was granted. Everyone, from helpless child to mighty superhuman, was a target to be dealt with brutally.
